Recap of 10 September, and looking forward!

Hola colleagues!

Last night’s joint DAM/NEMA advocacy event was a blast, despite the appalling traffic and gloomy weather.  35 folks descended (or ascended, I guess, since it’s on Beacon Hill) on the Nichols House Museum, courtesy of their Director, Victoria Glazomitsky and her staff, to have a private tour of the museum and a primer from Meg Winikates and Dan Yaeger of NEMA on how to advocate with your state representatives.

You should take a tour next time you’re on Beacon Hill. It’s a great way to understand what went on behind the shiny front doors of Beacon Hill in the 19th and 20th centuries.

We followed it up with a trip down the Hill to Harvard Gardens where the merriment continued late into the evening.

The Big News

As part of our continuous improvement process, the lean, agile DAM trio (Alli Rico, Jenn Schmitt, and Ed Rodley) did a reconnaissance trip to Redbones a couple of weeks ago. We’re always looking for ways to improve your experience, especially if it means hanging out and eating barbecue! We combined our lists of places we want to go and folks who’ve asked us to host a DAM, and put together a tentative schedule for the next eight months! Phone calls will be going out soon, so if your museum is on the list, be on the lookout! Drinking About Museums is coming for you! We’ll add dates as we confirm venues.

Jan – Museums Showoff @ the Hong Kong
Feb – DAM @ the Hong Kong
April  – Castle Hill, Ipswich
May – Gore Place, Waltham

  1. Hi Ed- Have you selected the DAM dates for October and November? If so, please share. My schedule is NUTS so I must plan ahead. Thanks, Sarah
